Wet Plate Workshop

A journey into the world of wet plate photography.

A small gathering of four photographers will learn how to create tintypes under the instruction of Kevin Martini-Fuller. Over the course of four hours, Kevin and Stephanie from Studio LeRoi will guide you through the wet-plate process, including using the large format camera, collaboration with the model (Stephanie) to incorporate some of your own ideas into the plates, and running the on-site darkroom. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet others, enjoy the process of creating art, and of course, create some beautiful heirloom tintypes to take home with you.

Kevin Martini-Fuller holds an MFA in photography from Southern Illinois University with a concentration in two historical photographic processes, photogravure and carbon printing. Kevin’s resume includes teaching Ansel Adams’ workshops, international recognition for his work, and his “Cowboy Poets” portrait photographic legacy, now in its 38th year.

Kevin’s work can be seen here: https://www.kevinmartinifuller.com.

Workshop Duration: 4 hours (1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.)

Workshop Fee: $150 (inclusive of all materials)

Layering Light: A Multiple Exposure Workshop

A workshop presented by Studio LeRoi and Jennifer Louise of Mouse Photography.

“When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” - Wayne Dyer

Come explore a new way of seeing with us. During this workshop, you will learn how to use your DSLR or phone camera to create stunning, in-camera multiple and double exposures. Over the course of four hours, Jennifer will demonstrate how to use multiple exposures to manipulate your environment by adjusting focus, camera orientation, and negative space to create a new form: an altered scene that deviates from a photo’s original state and challenges the viewer’s perspective.

Each photographer will have opportunities to practice and apply their understanding of this technique via shooting with our studio model, as well as 1:1 time with Jennifer for feedback and refinement.

This is a wonderful opportunity to meet others, learn how to create jaw-dropping in-camera multiple exposures, and create some great images!

Jennifer’s work can be seen here: www.mousephotography.store.

Please reach out to info@studioleroi.com with any questions.

This event is limited to eight attendees.

Understanding Light: A Complete Guide to Lighting

A workshop presented by Studio LeRoi and Ryan Hicks of HADO Photo.

A journey into the world of understanding light and lighting in still photography. Our goal is to give you the tools you need to control and shape light. You will learn how to break down light’s impact in the images you see in order to understand it completely. Armed with these tools, you’ll be able to recreate any shot you see.

During this small gathering of eight photographers, you will learn the language of light: its properties, zones, and effects on real-world subjects. We will demonstrate lighting techniques in conjunction with finished images. Each photographer will have opportunities to apply their understanding of patterns of light and light ratios via shooting with our studio model.

This is a wonderful opportunity to meet others, learn how to “paint” using the language of light, and create some great images.

Ryan’s work can be seen here: https://www.hadophoto.com/

Please reach out to info@studioleroi.com with any questions.

This event is limited to eight photographers.
